They may register with a team of less than four people. Students that have not created a team will be placed into teams by the event staff.

Will there be separate divisions for elementary school and middle school students?

Yes! Elementary school and middle school students will be placed into separate divisions, and they will recieve different problem sets. Students are only eligible for awards within their division. Please see the details page for more information.

How will we ensure the integrity of the competition?

Please see the rules.

How difficult are the problems?

There will be easy problems that all competitors will find accessible. There will also be hard problems that very few students will get correct, and many may not understand right away. Because of this, participants should be prepared to get scores lower than those they are used to getting on tests in class. Most problems can be solved using only concepts that are typically taught in the grade levels corresponding to the division, but some problems may require concepts taught in higher grades, and many problems will require students to apply the concepts in new ways.

Will the problems be as difficult as the 2020 and 2021 CVJMT?

The problems for the 2020 and 2021 CVJMT were more challenging than usual because of the virtual format of the competition. We aim to make the 2024 CVJMT as difficult as the Middlementary Math Bonanza.
